Whoa, this month is crazy.

Wow, it has been a crazy two weeks! I flew home from Denver on the night of Friday, March 12.  As I mentioned in my last post, James drove from Bloomington, IN n to Louisville, KY to unpack his suitcases and then hop a flight to DC for the next week.  Unfortunately, things took a strange turn of events with the Hairspray production he had been planning on performing in since January.  He basically got to Louisville and found out that the housing situation had not been worked out.  To make a VERY long story short, he wound up having to pull out of doing Hairspray because the production manager had promised housing which the theater couldn't actually provide.  It was so disappointing, because remember he had front-loaded ALL of his classes and GA hours into the first seven weeks of school in order to take the last seven weeks off and perform, and he spent quite a hectic week here in DC while he was taking 12-hours-a-day of classes during the Washington Campus program he'd signed up for on the phone with the theater trying to work things out.  It wound up being much cheaper for the theater to call someone up from the ensemble to play James' part (since rehearsals had not even started yet) than to both pay James and provide decent housing for him, and of course we understood that....just maybe wish they had told us you know, several months before all the contracts were signed :)  HOWEVER...once it looked like the show might fall through, I gotta say James and I realized we were feeling a lot more "relief" than "disappointment".  With him doing the show, we were going to see each other about 3 times in two months - not to mention we were totally stressed about when he would look for apartments in Columbus, when he would pack up his Bloomington apartment and move, etc.  But now that he has the next eight weeks off - he literally has all the time in the world!!! Yipppeee!! We are so excited.

Once we confirmed and reconfirmed that Hairspray was out of the picture, he changed the flight he had for last Friday back to Louisville for today, and we went up to Philadelphia for the weekend and saw his brother and sister-in-law! We had an absolute blast with Matt and Alison and hadn't seen them since New Years so it was great to catch up.  James flew back to Louisville today (where his car is), and this afternoon he's driving back to Bloomington to finish up the last of his GA hours, attend a friend's engagement party and see his parents in Indianapolis.  Then he'll drive back out to DC next Friday (April 2...I am already counting the days!!) and we're pretty sure he's going to be here almost the entire month of April! We don't know yet if I'll have to travel, but if I do he can always go up to Philly for a couple days and see his brother (and help with the current kitchen renovation they're doing).  Plus, knock-on-wood but it's not looking like I'll be traveling much in the foreseeable future - the rest of my team has been briefly reassigned to another project that requires a lot of travel but I have not so hopefully that means I'll be DC-based for a little while.

That's about it - I gotta run now but wanted to give the quick synopsis.  James has only been gone two hours but already I miss him like crazy and can't wait for next Friday!!!
