Saturday, Jan 2, we went with Matt and Alison to this awesome garden center just south of Philly called Terrain. It's actually owned by Urban Outfitters and it was absolutely gorgeous. Decorated beyond belief. Seriously, check out their website. We ate at their cafe and spent several hours there just oogling over all the beautiful stuff they had! Here are some pictures of Terrain:It got us in the terrarium mood, among other things...and, to make a long story short, we bought a couple plants but passed on the uber-beautiful (but equally uber-pricey) terrarium glass. We hit up Marshall's and Home Goods and bought some VERY COOL glassware which I then used to make a terrarium and to re-pot some of my plants that needed new digs:
This is my new terrarium....plant from Terrain and awesome glass jar from Marshalls for $13:
Here is my sedum plant, Burrito, in his new pot (purchased at Terrain):
Here is another succulent of mine, Jorge, in a cool glass jar purchased at Marshalls for $4.99:And here are some paperwhite bulbs my Dad gave me for Christmas (I'm hoping they will bloom sometime in April since I'm keeping them indoors):
And here is some Lavender (in the middle) that I started from SEED that I recently repotted because he was root-bound:
Sunday, Jan 3, we met my friends Jon and Suzanne for brunch in DC at a great place called The Diner. I hadn't seen them in a while and they were excited to meet James, so it was a great time all around! IT WAS SO WINDY AND COLD IN DC ON SUNDAY THOUGH! Man! After brunch James and I drove down to the National Mall and went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History...we had a blast!!! We came home Sunday night and made Chana Masala, an Indian chickpea dish that we both adore. I took a picture because it was so awesome, but unfortunately I decided to take the picture AFTER I had started eating...so please excuse the fact that I had to move the food around on my plate to try to make it look appetizing again and not like someone had just torn threw it (which I had):
YUMYUMYUM!!!!!!! This week is pretty low key - work is cranking back up again and James is getting some last things accomplished before he heads back to Indiana on Thursday and starts classes on Monday the 11th.
