Marathon out, Spin class in

Many of you know that I basically pulled my butt. I have severly injured my piriformis muscle - which, as it turns out, is quite an important muscle for running, walking, standing, sitting, or doing basically anything that involves your butt. I have not had a training run since September 12. I started seeing a sports massage therapist, she was awesome.  For a while we thought I could maybe do the HALF marathon in Philly, even though I had registered for the full, but a couple weeks ago I decided there's just no way.... I need to totally rest, get my butt back into the swing of things, and then maybe I'll do a marathon next spring (upside: Philly is going to be cold on November 22, so maybe it's a good thing I'm not running after all!)

So, basically, I'm on the mend.  My left buttcheek hurts frequently; that is pretty special. But thankfully I can do spin classes because they use your butt in an entirely different way - which does not hurt me at all and if anythign allows me to get really warmed up and then I get the best, most intense stretches afterward, which are really helping my piriformis, so I've been spinning a LOT.  Which is awesome because luckily my gym has some pretty great spin instructors.

So, because of this, I'm removing the "Susan's Marathon Training Progress" link from this blog, because I haven't updated it since September, because I haven't run since September, so right now it's basically just irritating me by being on this page.  So, goodbye link!

James is still running the Philadelphia half marathon and I will be there with bells on next weekend to cheer him on! He's trying to break the 2 hour mark so keep your fingers crossed! It shouldn't be hard since his last half was 2:02, but he's been sick with a sore throat lately and very busy with school, so he hasn't been getting the training in like he'd hoped.

I was in Bloomington last weeked for Women's Weekend and met some fabulous females who hopefully will decide to apply and then matriculate into the Kelley School of Business MBA Class of 2012.  This week has been pretty quiet at work so far, which is a welcome way to bounce back from Tampa last week.  This weekend I'm flying to Columbus, Ohio and I'll be meeting James there, who's driving up from Btown.  The company he worked for over the summer is bringing back all the interns they extended full-time offers to for a "re-visit" of Columbus....and they're flying significant others in too! So we're going to a hockey game, going out to dinner with some people he used to work with, etc...basically he's getting "woo'ed" by the company so that he'll sign that offer! :)  We're looking forward to being back in Columbus again, and are already planning our meals at our favorite restaurants!  Fun times!

That's about it...next week is going to be crazy.  I'm flying BACK to Indiana the night of November 19th because on the morning of November 20th (Friday), I've been asked to come talk to current MBA students about how I've enjoyed my time in government consulting so far. It's a Consulting Academy day for first year MBA students, and they're basically listening to presentations from all types of consultants...and I'll be there speaking about Booz Allen!  Then I got on the same flight as James had already booked to fly to DC, so we'll be flying from Indy to DC together on the 20th.  The night of the 20th we'll drive up to Philadelphia to see his brother and sister-in-law, and we'll be there that weekend and he will run the Philly half marathon on Sunday morning.  Then Sunday we'll drive back down to DC, and then I'll work on Mon, Tues, and Wed of that week, and then Wednesday night we head down to North Carolina for Thanksgiving.  FUN FUN FUN!!! I cannot wait to see everybody again, and I cannot WAIT for everyone to meet James!!! WOOHOO!!!

Ok...gotta run (figuratively, not literally) to a spin class now....bye for now!!
