Moving plants indoors

With temperatures reaching 40 degrees and winds up to 25 mph, I've been starting to move all my beloved plants indoors.  They are doing REALLY well - my succulent Neil is really getting big and I practically have a basil BUSH because it's growing so well (I need to make a pesto, stat!).

My basil plant, outta control:

My other succulent, Burrito:

These are some marigold seeds my friend Ruthan sent me in April, that I planted in May in Bloomington! They have really been through the ringer since then and are finally blooming!! Looking a little stringy, but still beautiful!

My ivy is doing well.  Have set up a small table beside my glass sliding door to try to ensure they get adequate light during the day. I want to figure out how to rig up a UV light or something for the winter.

Work is pretty busy right now.  I am hoping to come home to NC this weekend to see my family, but it's basically going to depend on how well a meeting goes today - I might have a lot of work to do this weekend, which would be easier for me to do here in the office than remotely from home.

I had another massage last night for my butt! My massage therapist thinks that the problem is really tight hamstrings, pulling on my piriformis and hips - she also found a really tight QL muscle in my back which makes her think it is all hamstring-related.  Her advice to me was continue to spin, continue to NOT run for another week or two, and get into Yoga, Yoga, and More Yoga to stretch those hammies!! I am feeling really good this morning with almost NO pain whatsoever for the first time in a long time (which I find hard to believe since last night's massage was down right excruciating...but for whatever reason I feel great today!), so I'm inclined to think my massage therapist really knows what she's talking about!!! I guess one positive thing about me not going home this weekend and staying in DC would be the multiple yoga classes I could take advantage of on Saturday and Sunday at my gym.

I do feel, though, that the full marathon I had planned to do November 22 in Philadelphia is pretty much out.  I only have 5 weeks left, and my longest run was only about 13 miles, so I think the full marathon is out.  BUT my massage therapist, Barb, is totally confident that I can get back into running and do the half marathon at Philly (which is what James was planning to do anyway, so this way maybe we could run together!).  My friend Ruthan sent me a sweet message about not getting discouraged about getting injured, so that helped a lot.  Thanks Rufus!!!

Gotta run....lots of love to all!! XOXO

  1. Susan, I don't like to DRIVE 13 miles. You are a rock star. Take care of your body and give it time to catch up to your amazing goal-setting brain!

We had pesto last week, and I made a pesto pasta salad with olives, sun dried tomatoes parmesan and feta. Yum!
